Deconstructing Church

Writing my way to an inclusive and affirming Church

A Prayer for Sunday 24th May

Holy Spirit we need you. Be ever present in our lives and in our world at this time. There is so much despair, outrage and unfairness circling us, threatening to pull us down with it. We look to our leaders and are met with confusion at best, deceit at worst. We look to our families from afar with grief in our hearts. We look to our Churches and find discomfort as they are filled with people just like us, trying to do their best in an uncertain world. Nothing feels solid. Nothing feels safe.

Holy Spirit, we need you. Draw us back into the loving presence of our God. Draw us back to gratitude for the things we do have, at the very least each breath we draw. Draw us towards the peace that comes with knowing whatever we live through, we are held. Living day by day, moment by moment, more connected to ourselves and our surroundings as we live in our reduced worlds. May we find blessing in simplicity, be soothed by less demands, and find ways to keep looking up to the light when we feel buried.

Amen

Peace be with you.
